Estimator

The Estimator will play a critical role in the success of our projects by providing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project requirements, and ensuring competitive and comprehensive bids. This position requires a deep understanding of civil construction practices, local market conditions, and strong analytical skills.

Job Responsibilities

  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects.
  • Conduct site visits and assess project requirements to ensure accurate estimation.
  • Identify and evaluate risks, opportunities, and constraints associated with project execution.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Prepare bid proposals and present them to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure project budgets align with estimates.
  • Monitor and update cost databases, historical data, and unit price libraries.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and local regulations impacting project costs.
  • Assist in post-bid negotiations and value engineering initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records of all estimates, assumptions, and supporting documentation.

Job Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience as an Estimator in the civil construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and local regulations in Washington State.
  • Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Bluebeam, Agtek, or similar tools).
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Preferred, Not Required

  • Experience in infrastructure, earthworks, or traffic management projects.
  • Familiarity with Washington State bidding processes and local subcontractor networks.
  • Certification in construction estimating (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator) is a plus.
